Mourinho lost his job and was relinquished from his role as the London club’s manager following a run of poor results that continued to affect their position in the league standings since last year. Aside from the fact that the Tottenham defense had several issues and conceded far too many goals under Mourinho, they also had problems in attack and did not score enough goals.

Although Son Heung-Min and Harry Kane, the club’s two best players, have been on fire and in crazy goalscoring form this season, the job has been solely rested on their shoulders and the club have had to suffer in the absence of any or both of the stars. According to the recent revelation by Slimani, Mourinho had plans in mind to turn things around and the Algerian revealed that getting a phone call from the Portuguese manager was proof that those plans were in place.

Slimani said that the former Chelsea manager rang him and asked him about the possibility of signing for Tottenham last season, but he did not disclose the response he gave the ex-Manchester United manager.

Slimani left Leicester City and signed for Ligue 1 side AS Monaco on loan and was an important player for the French side in his debut campaign. However, he left Monaco and signed for their rivals Olympique Lyon where he currently plays his football. However, in the current campaign, the striker has not been as prolific as he was in the previous one. With just one goal in 15 outings for Lyon so far this season, he has failed to replicate the fine form he was in last season.
